Dear Community,
We are honored to share our partnership with Mayor Barbara Lee, a true racial justice champion, to foster an Oakland where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. It is vital for us to have a strong, accountable, local government that invests in the infrastructure needed to realize a racially just Oakland where all communities, particularly those who have been historically marginalized, can flourish.
We are excited to be a part of Mayor Lee’s new breakthrough cross-sector funding strategy, which has already secured more than $2.5 million in philanthropic and entrepreneurial investments, including: $2.14 million dedicated to inclusive technology and STEAM pathways, and $650,000 in seed funding to launch the city’s One Oakland Fund to support high-priority programs and innovation aimed at creating greater opportunity and equity for Oakland.
This emerging partnership strongly aligns with Akonadi’s strategic vision of building an Oakland for All and demonstrates what is possible when government, philanthropy, and community come together. We are proud to work alongside the Mayor and our philanthropic partners to ensure that investments in innovation and public safety are rooted in justice and the lived experiences of Oaklanders.
At Akonadi, we know true innovation starts with community wisdom and leadership. Mayor Lee’s agenda places community solutions at the heart of Oakland’s future. Together with the Mayor and our partners, we are committed to building an Oakland where equity and opportunity go hand in hand.
