Movement Infrastructure

Fostering Deeper Alignment Towards Governing Power

A thriving movement needs more than just passionate organizers—it needs a thriving ecosystem and strong infrastructure to connect and sustain the fight for justice. Akonadi Foundation is committed to strengthening Oakland’s movement ecosystem by fostering deeper collaboration, alignment, and a shared long-term agenda among grassroots organizations, coalitions, and power-building groups.

We invest in movement infrastructure that unites organizations around a long-term vision for change and aggregates power across organizations and communities. By deepening trust, building capacities, expanding coalitions, and strengthening shared strategies, Akonadi aims to:

Build stronger alliances and coalitions that sustain across multiple campaigns

Support alignment around a common agenda for long-term power building and transformative systems change

Expand the movement by bringing in new partners to build a strong working class multiracial constituency

By strengthening movement infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for transformative change—where community power is not just built but sustained and translated into real governing power.
