The city of Oakland marked the latest stop on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s listening tour as he travels the state to meet with community leaders to discuss racism and systemic injustices.
Newsom visited Miss Ollie’s with Oakland African-American Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Cathy Adams and also met with a group of leaders that included Akonadi Foundation President Lateefah Simon for a conversation on policing and criminal justice reforms.
The meetings come in the midst of a civil-rights protests in response to the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd last month. Read More
