We’re excited to spotlight Francis Mead, the artist behind our 2023 Racial Justice Poster Project, “We Infinite.” Her compelling poster represents the ways Oakland remains an epicenter for love, joy, and our dreams of collective liberation.
Akonadi Foundation had the honor of first working with Francis as part of our Creatives in Place listening project in 2020. As the featured artist for this year’s Racial Justice Poster Project, Francis opened up with us about her creative process, her evolution as an artist, and the inspiration behind the “We Infinite” poster. In the video, you’ll hear Francis explore how she uses art for healing and how Oakland and motherhood inspire her to step fully into her artistry.
We hope you enjoy the video and get a glimpse of how powerful art can be in our fight for racial liberation and justice. Akonadi is committed to supporting the artists and culture creators who are essential to building power and community in Oakland.
Continue helping us spread the word about the poster project through your social media channels. If you’re interested in receiving this year’s poster, you can request one here.
