The 1st Annual Joyce Gordon Foundation of the Arts Oakland Youth Art Exhibit is
a celebration of emerging youth and young adult artists. This exhibit is inspired by
a genuine desire to cultivate cooperative and invaluable relationships between
young artists, established artists, art enthusiasts, and the community at large. In
many ways, the Youth Art Exhibit is a showcase of the diversity and creativity that
makes Oakland such a desirable place to live and visit. This exhibit is a reminder
to all that our differences are what make us better as a collective.
The artworks included in the Oakland Youth Art Exhibit are original works by
artists ranging in age from 13 to 24. These artists represent the front-line work and
commitment to cooperative growth of local organizations including the Oakland
School for the Arts, Attitudinal Healing Connections, Downtown TAY, Oakland
Unified School, and more. The works on display range in media, technique, color
way, subject matter and beyond.
